Works in Progress

Here are my current projects:

The Vanishing (Reaper Girl #3)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Status: In revision
Blurb: Someone is killing the fey and draining their blood. Rick and Leliel go undercover at a religious cult to find out why. Stay tuned.

Genre: Psychological Horror
Status: In rewrite
Blurb: You’ll just have to see, won’t you?
Soundtrack: Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche
Interesting facts about this novel: This book was born waaaay back in 2004 when I needed a brand new novel idea for a class I was taking.  The basic idea was something I’d tucked into a file and forgotten.  I finished the first draft (225k!) in 2009, and promised myself I’d do the rewrite soon.  It’s in 12 different files, so it’s going to be a challenge (I’d gotten stuck and moved on to different plot thread…several times).  Also, the album Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche inspired some of the mind control aspects of the plot, and I swear at least half of the book wrote itself to that album.  It is also my first real attempt at horror. May become a trilogy.  I do have a sequel planned. 😉

Flamebound (book 1 of the Psy Watch series)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Status: In revision
Blurb: A paranormal romance about a powerful fire-Psy woman being used as a weapon by a sadistic Queen and her childhood sweetheart who dares to rescue her.
Interesting facts about this novel: I’m currently working this through Holly Lisle’s How to Revise Your Novel class. So far, it’s coming together nicely. This was originally a 29k novella that was inspired by the song “Take Hold of the Flame” by the band Queensryche. I imagined a world of elemental psychics battling a sadistic Queen in a cold, barren future Earth. And, as always, I continue my fascination with fire. Queen Eva was originally a vampire, but I decided against it because vampires are overdone. So I made her into the kind of psychic who can destroy things — including, but not limited to, memory. And the rest fell into place from there.

I’m hoping to turn this into a series, too.

Genre: Supernatural/thriller/erotica (in other words, I’m not sure yet)
Status: Writing now
Blurb: Amnesiac rock singer and a news reporter are connected in some way…but how?
Interesting facts about this novel: This started out as a challenge to start a book with erotica and build a plot from that (in 2010). And, a personal betrayal. Both things collided at exactly the right time and boom! Story idea! The idea morphed into something I couldn’t even imagine, and has nothing to do with the personal betrayal. That was only the beginning. And a fascinating question I’d asked myself.
Soundtrack: Midnight by Tyler Glenn, a singer I just discovered.

Soul Song
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Status: Writing now
Blurb: Novella about reincarnation and twin flames and true love. I don’t really know much else about this, except that the main character escapes her supernatural prison and is on the run and finds her twin flame but he, sadly, does not remember her. It is her job to help him remember – all while trying to stay one step ahead of her pursuers.
Soundtrack: Stone Cold by Rainbow/Cover by Todd La Torre and Glen Drover
